About the Mayor’s Residence Arts Salon

      The Mayor’s Residence Arts Salon was built in 1940 as the official residence of the Mayor of Taipei during the Japanese colonial rule. Surrounded by lawns and trees, the elegant, Japanese style architecture stands in the middle 250 square meters acres of land. The function of the manor was changed and was transformed into the Mayor’s Residential Arts Salon in November 2000. It now consists of a performing hall, a Japanese style classroom, an exhibition hall, a sun-lounge and a café for the public. Arts and literature-related activities and various courses are given in the Arts Salon from time to time. It is a perfect place for people to stop by and serves as a wonderful escape in a crowded city.
